Customized English Fluency for Intermediate Students -- Course #1

About

Not every student is the same. Not every "intermediate" student has the same skills. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and different needs and goals. Customized English Fluency for Intermediate Students uses an online Placement Test and a 30-minute video chat (Needs Analysis) to help determine the best way to get a student from where they are to where they want or need to be.

After the Placement Test and Needs Analysis, we design a custom lesson plan, specifically to increase the student's proficiency level. The goal is to progress from CERF level B1 to B2.

Students may then enroll in the short term (10-hours) structured lessons. There is a series of four 10-module short term lessons. This is series #1.

Materials & Method

All lessons are online, private, and 1-to-1. We use a range of materials, including interactive whiteboards, presentation slides (with are available to the student after class, for as long as they are an active student), audio and video files, reading, writing, speaking, and listening exercises, as well as conversation.

Students may arrange their classes at convenient times, as their schedule permits.

Bio

Business English, IELTS/TOEFL

I conduct a Placement Test and/or Needs Analysis to help determine your current level of English fluency and understand your wants and needs. We have to know both where you are and where you want to be to create a lesson plan to reach your goals. This is free of charge.

While in my third year of university, I was called up to military service. Because I was preparing for a career in education, I was trained to design curriculum and teach.

One of my strongest assets is an understanding of the adult learner. While I was within three semesters of completing my degree, I spent the next nearly 12 years attending classes on nights and weekends, while raising a family and working full-time.

At age thirty, I found myself working in South America. Prior to this, I spoke no Spanish. I have an understanding of and empathy for those who are trying to acquire a foreign language, as an adult. I know what it is like to have the thoughts and ideas of a 30-year old, but the speaking ability of a 3-year old!

As the Managing Partner of an advertising and marketing communications firm, I have a deep understanding of western-style business.

I understand what it is like to be an adult learner of a foreign language! I am ready to help you.

Trial Class
Description

We offer a trial class -- but it is not so much a class as an opportunity to meet, review your Placement Test results, and for the teacher to determine your needs and goals so that we can design a customized lesson plan. There is no obligation for this, but you do have to complete the Placement Test, prior to this meeting. There is a minimal $5.00 fee to take the Placement Test and receive the results. To take the online Placement Test, you must send a working email address to me, through the Flatten Message System. This does not violate the Flatten Terms of Service, but you MUST schedule all classes through the above message system. If you have taken our placement test within the past two years, you do not have to retake it.
